Web Development
Webflow Development
Genuinely good for marketing sites a non-technical team owns. Structure it badly at the start and it becomes the hardest platform on this list to maintain.
Webflow development produces sites a marketing team can edit without breaking the layout. The Nexclick structures the CMS collections and components properly at the start, because Webflow projects built page by page become unmanageable somewhere around the twentieth page, and restructuring later is painful.
Is this you?
What usually prompts the call
- Your marketing team wants to publish without waiting for a developer.
- Your existing Webflow site was built page by page and is now unmanageable.
- You need a site quickly and a WordPress build is more than the requirement.
- Every page on your Webflow site has slightly different spacing because nothing was reused.
What we do
The actual deliverables
Things that appear on an invoice, not adjectives.
- Class and style structure first
- A consistent naming system and a style hierarchy before any page is built. This single decision determines whether the site is maintainable at page thirty.
- CMS collection design
- Collections and reference fields modelled properly, so content scales rather than being duplicated across pages. Restructuring collections later is genuinely painful.
- Reusable components
- Sections built as components so a change propagates rather than needing thirty manual edits. The most commonly skipped step in Webflow projects.
- Responsive at every breakpoint
- Designed and tested from 320px upward rather than desktop-first and squeezed, which is Webflow’s default working direction and its most common failure.
- Editor training and permissions
- Your team shown what they can safely change and given permissions matching that, so nobody edits a global style by accident.
- Interactions used sparingly
- Motion where it helps, respecting reduced-motion preferences. Webflow makes elaborate animation easy, which is why so many Webflow sites have too much of it.
- SEO and performance setup
- Meta fields, schema, image handling and redirects configured rather than left at defaults.
Comparison
What Webflow does well, and where it stops
Webflow is excellent within its boundaries and frustrating outside them. Knowing where the line sits prevents choosing it for a project it cannot finish.
| Requirement | Webflow | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing site a non-technical team edits | Excellent | This is what it is for |
| Design fidelity without a developer | Excellent | Strongest argument for the platform |
| Blog and structured content | Good — CMS collections | Fine up to the item limits |
| Hosting, SSL and CDN | Included | One fewer thing to manage |
| Simple forms | Good | Watch the monthly submission limits |
| Ecommerce | Limited | Use Shopify instead |
| User accounts and gated content | Basic | Adequate for simple membership only |
| Server-side logic | None | Hard stop — needs a different platform |
| Complex integrations | Via third-party tools | Workable, fragile at scale |
| Very large sites | Constrained | CMS item limits become a real ceiling |
| Exporting and self-hosting | Possible, loses the CMS | Effectively a one-way door |
| Multi-language | Native, on higher plans | Reasonable, and check the pricing |
How it works
Step by step, with timeframes
Timeframes are typical rather than guaranteed, and they assume we get account access and approvals when we ask.
- 01Week 1–2
Structure
Class system, style hierarchy and CMS collections designed before building. Slower to start and the reason the site stays maintainable.
- 02Week 2–5
Build components and templates
Reusable sections and collection templates, with real content rather than placeholder text.
- 03Week 5–7
Pages and content
Pages assembled from components, with your team given editor access early so the experience is tested.
- 04Week 7–8
Test, train, launch
Cross-device testing, editor training, redirect setup, then launch and monitoring.
What you get
Reporting and ownership
- A documented class and style system, so the site stays maintainable as it grows.
- CMS collections modelled to scale rather than duplicated content across pages.
- Reusable components, so one change propagates rather than needing thirty edits.
- Editor training recorded, with permissions set so nothing global can be broken accidentally.
- A written note of what Webflow cannot do, so nobody keeps trying.
Tools and platforms
- Webflow Designer & CMS
- Webflow components and variables
- Figma (design handoff)
- Custom code embeds where needed
- Lighthouse
- Webflow Editor permissions
Timeline
How long this actually takes
Seven to eight weeks for a marketing site. Faster than an equivalent WordPress build, and the structure stage is what separates a Webflow site that lasts three years from one that becomes unmanageable in six months. Worth knowing the constraints before choosing it: Webflow is a hosted platform with its own pricing, limits on CMS items and form submissions, and no server-side logic. For a marketing site those rarely bite. For anything with genuine application behaviour, it is the wrong tool and we will say so.
Pricing model
Fixed-price project
Fixed price by page and collection count. The Webflow subscription is yours directly, and we will size the plan against your actual CMS item and form volume.
Questions
Webflow Development questions
Is Webflow better than WordPress?
For a marketing site a non-technical team owns, frequently yes — hosting is included, the editing experience is good, and design fidelity is high without a developer. For anything needing server-side logic, complex ecommerce or heavy integration, WordPress or a custom build is the correct answer.
Why does the class structure matter so much?
Because Webflow styles are global by default. A poorly structured project means changing a heading style breaks four other pages, and nobody dares touch anything. A consistent class system decided at the start is the difference between a site that stays editable and one that calcifies.
Can we export the site and host it ourselves?
You can export the static code, and you lose the CMS and forms in doing so. In practice it is a one-way door — treat Webflow as a hosted platform you are committing to, not as a design tool you can walk away from with the site intact.
What are the CMS limits?
Each plan caps CMS items, and they are a genuine ceiling on large content sites. Check your projected item count against the plan before committing, because outgrowing it means either a higher tier or a replatform, neither of which is pleasant to discover late.
Can our team break the site?
Not with permissions set correctly. Editor access lets them change content without touching styles or structure. Giving everyone Designer access is how Webflow sites get broken, and it happens because the distinction is not explained at handover.
Can you fix an existing Webflow site that has become unmanageable?
Usually, and it means restructuring classes and rebuilding pages from components — which is close to a rebuild in effort. We will assess it honestly and tell you when starting again costs less than untangling what is there.
